Campus of University College Utrecht

For low-budget conference participants Utrecht University offers inexpensive lodging at University College Utrecht, about 2 km from the conference venue towards the centre of the city with a frequent bus connection. In this College, sets of 6 single rooms are grouped together with shared facilities of 2 toilets and 2 showers. These rooms are in particular meant for Ph.D. students and participants with low travel budgets. These rooms are offered for a fixed 5-night period (1-6 July 2005) at a total rate of Euro 175 including bed linen, towels and breakfast. This accommodation can only be booked up to the early bird deadline (20 April 2005) and should be paid by then through the electronic registration page on this website. Note that credit card payment via the website is instantaneous, but allow enough time if you want to pay by bank transfer!

Booking of the campus accommodation is no longer possible!
For participants that are booked in, an additional information package will be sent separately.

Travel

Utrecht can be easily reached by train and car from Germany, Belgium and France and is connected by a 40 minutes train connection with Schiphol, Amsterdam Airport, Europe's fourth largest airport.

To arrange your travel to Utrecht, you may need to check the following links:

From Utrecht railway station (Utrecht Centraal):
  • Check your hotel information if you arrive to your hotel first.
  • On Friday, July 1st, we invite you to the registration and reception in the Academiegebouw (University hall) on the Domplein (Dom square) in the city center. It is about 15 minutes walk from the station. You can also take bus 2, which brings you directly to theDomplein. Bus 11 stops at Janskerkhof (~5 minutes walk). Other social events will also take place on the Domplein.
  • To get to the Conference site, take bus 12 or 11. The bus stops Langeveldgebouw and Heidelberglaan are very close to the Educatorium (Leuvenlaan 19), where the conference will take place.
Practical tip: paying for your bus ride
  • You can always pay to the bus driver, but this is much more expensive.
  • More effective is to buy a ‘strippenkaart’ (a multi-journey ticket) beforehand. One strippenkaart with 15 strips costs 6.50 euro and is available at the railway stations, post offices, tobacco shops and many supermarkets. One bus ride from the station to the conference site will cost you 3 strips. Bus connections inside Utrecht usually cost 2 strips.
  • Check this address for more details about public transport in the Netherlands.
If you arrive by car, check
  • highways around Utrecht
  • roads around the conference site. From Universiteitsweg turn to Leuvenlaan. The conference takes place in Educatorium (Leuvenlaan 19). You can find parkings on both sides of Leuvenlaan.
  • Note that parking in the city centre (where social events and the registration on July 1st take place) is difficult.
